Corporate Responsibility (CR)

The Human Rights Act enshrined fundamental rights to fairness and respect for human dignity and clarified core values and standards which should be available to everyone. These underpin social cohesion in the workplace and community and some form the basis of Corporate Responsibility; particularly in relation to diversity and inclusion.

  • CR is an increasingly important element of Competitive Advantage
  • CR is measured on results as well as input
  • There are few methods of evaluating this changed outcome
  • Diversity is one of six components of CR

CR benefits include:

  • enhanced market share with enhanced reputation
  • identification of success to peer group and customers; and
  • enhanced competitive advantage

The UKCAE Pathway provides measured proof of achievement and change within one of the six core elements of the CR Competency Framework: harnessing diversity. This requires an organisation to:

  • respect diversity and adjust its approach to different situations
  • respect differences and harness this diversity
  • to reflect these in fair and transparent employment practices
  • identify and quantify current performance in diversity and inclusion; and
  • use the information to improve performance and to better utilise resources

Harnessing diversity within the workplace

One of the six core elements of the CR Competency Framework is harnessing diversity within the workplace.

This requires an organisation to respect diversity and adjust its approach to different situations; to respect differences and harness this diversity; and to reflect these in fair and transparent employment practices.
