The Disability Equality Duty comes into force on 4 December when all Public Authorities must publish their Disability Equality Schemes. How does this affect you and your organisation?

UKCAE would like to extend a warm welcome to Centrex (Central Police Training and Development Authority) who have formally agreed to come on board as a Founder Member of UKCAE. Their experience and remit of "identifying good practice and sharing this knowledge nationally and internationally" will be invaluable in helping formulate the UKCAE Pathway and Standards. In April 2007 Centrex will form part of the new National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA).

Working closely with Centrex will be the National Disabled Police Association who have agreed to join UKCAE on the Council of Reference. Also joining the Council of Reference are Finchale College who retrain people with disabilities for employment.

The Council of Reference will comprise charities, other related organisations and individual disabled people. It will form the main consultation body for the Governing Board of UKCAE.
