United Kingdom Council for Access and Equality (UKCAE)

On the day [5 October, 2006] that Margaret Hodge, Minister for Industry and the Regions, joins a City debate on the Companies Bill, Damian Reece, City Editor of The Daily Telegraph, writes, “Box-ticking regulation has never been our [UK] style. Instead a principles-based regulatory system has served UK business and shareholders well.”

On October 10 the Inaugural Executive Board Meeting of UKCAE will be held at the offices of Postcomm, one of the Founder Members of UKCAE. Present at this meeting will be Peter Carr, Chair of UKCAE, representatives of all the Founder Members signed-up to date, Jock Chalmers, Secretary to the Council, and Les Venus, the Chief Executive of Threshold Initiative, Support Company to UKCAE. On the Agenda will be the UKCAE Pathway and Standards and UKCAE Consultation Procedures [download Agenda].

On October 1 the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 Act came into force which outlaws direct age discrimination.
